Access Telegram from any modern browser
Telegram Web brings the entire messenger experience — cloud chats, channels, groups, bots, stickers and media — inside your browser. It is the perfect choice for locked-down laptops, Chromebooks and anyone who prefers to keep chat conversations in a tab instead of a system tray.
Browser requirements
- Browsers: Chrome 90+, Edge 90+, Safari 14+, Firefox 90+, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi
- OS: Any OS with a modern browser — including Chromebook, Linux, ARM tablets
- Network: HTTPS traffic to Telegram’s DC servers; works behind most proxies
- Storage: Uses browser cache (~40 MB) — clearing cache signs you out
How to open Telegram Web in four steps
- Launch Telegram Web. Tap the Open Telegram Web button. A new tab loads app.telegram.org where the browser edition lives.
- Choose your login method. You can scan a QR code with the mobile app (fastest) or enter your phone number and confirmation code manually.
- Enable notifications. Grant browser permission when Telegram Web asks. This keeps you informed even when the tab is in the background.
- Pin the tab. Right-click the tab and choose Pin. Telegram Web will now sit permanently in your browser toolbar as a lightweight web app.
What Telegram Web can do
Two web editions
Telegram Web A is optimized for older browsers; Web K adds animated stickers, sponsored chats sync and richer media. This page opens the modern K build.
No install, no admin rights
Ideal for shared computers, kiosks, Chromebooks and corporate laptops where installing software is blocked.
Instant switching
Switching between chats loads previews in the background, so scrollback feels almost as fast as the native desktop app.
PWA-ready
In Chrome and Edge you can "Install as app" to get a standalone Telegram window with its own icon, without leaving the browser sandbox.
Safety and session tips
- Always sign out of Telegram Web when using a shared computer — the browser cache stores an active session token.
- Enable browser-level password protection or profiles to isolate your Telegram Web tab from other users.
- Cloud chats are protected in transit; for maximum privacy, use Secret Chats in the mobile app (Secret Chats are not available on the web).
- If Telegram Web fails to load, clear cookies for app.telegram.org and reload — that resolves 90% of stuck-login states.
Web vs. desktop client
Telegram Web covers almost every day-to-day chat use case, but a few features require the native Windows or macOS client — for instance, Secret Chats, calls, screen sharing and bulk media exports. On phones, install Telegram for iOS or the Android APK to unlock features like local passcode and share-sheet integration.
Telegram Web FAQ
Is Telegram Web the same as the app? Almost. Cloud data is identical, but Web sessions do not participate in Secret Chats and calls open in a limited mode.
Does closing the tab log me out? No. Your session stays active until you sign out from Settings → Devices, or until the browser cache is cleared.
Can I install Telegram Web as a PWA? Yes — Chrome and Edge users can choose "Install app" from the omnibox to pin Telegram Web to the taskbar with its own icon.
