Install Telegram on your iPhone in five steps

  1. Open the App Store link. Tap Install from App Store — this portal opens Telegram Messenger on the App Store, signed and reviewed by Apple.
  2. Tap Get and authenticate. Confirm the install with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password. The download starts immediately.
  3. Open Telegram and choose a country. Enter your phone number, tap Next and paste the 5-digit code that arrives via SMS or from an existing device.
  4. Grant permissions. Allow notifications, contacts and microphone access based on how you plan to use Telegram. Everything is optional.
  5. Enable Passcode Lock. Head to Settings → Privacy and Security → Passcode & Face ID for an extra layer of protection on your device.

Safety notes

  • Enable Two-Step Verification in Settings → Privacy for extra login protection.
  • Use Secret Chats for messages you want encrypted end-to-end; Secret Chats do not sync to the cloud.
  • Turn on Auto-Delete for private chats to remove messages after 24 hours, 7 days or 1 month.

iOS vs. Android and desktop

iOS ships slightly ahead on animated stickers, share-sheet integration and Apple Pay support, but the Android APK has broader file-manager access. On desktop, pair iOS with the macOS build for Handoff or Telegram for Windows for a tray-based workflow. If you cannot install anything, open Telegram Web on the desktop.

Is Telegram free on iPhone? Yes. Premium adds cosmetic and productivity features but is fully optional.

Does Telegram work with iCloud? Telegram uses its own cloud so backups happen automatically — you do not need iCloud storage.

Can I install on iOS 15 or iOS 12? Yes. The App Store will offer the latest compatible build for older devices, back to iOS 12.
